These services have found a special indicative response with the emerging arena of cyber crime and cyber laws. Advertising is another field which makes use of these services extensively to identify and locate potential clients, customers and demand markets.

IP Locator services are offered for free by a lot of websites like myiptest.com, geobytes.com, ip2location.com, ipligence.com, find-ip-adress.org, tracemyip.org and iplocationtools.com. All you have to do is enter an IP address to find its location. Most of these websites offer a specific and limited amount of location services and the rest can be accessed after the payment of certain fees and charges, which vary with the website as well as with the specificity of the service required. You can find out who owns an e mail address as well as their geographical location. Specificity includes country and city as well as latitude and longitude. There are also map based locator services which use graphical localization to locate the identity of an IP address.

For owners of websites and blogs, this tool is useful to find out where their internet visitors are coming from, along with their country, location, ISP, domain name as well as zip code. The names, area codes and even their connection speed can be easily found out. These services are therefore also called the ‘Big Brother’ of the virtual internet space, as they can keep an eye on each and every move made in the virtual world by each and every registered netizens in the world. Anonymous proxy network detections are also possible using the high end software that employs IP Locators.

If you, for example, want to locate an IP address, there are multiple websites which will guide you in the right direction. In this example, we chose ip2location.com. All you have to do is visit the website, enter the IP address and click on ‘find location’. Ip2locator allows you to locate up to 20 IP addresses as a part of its free demo. Areas where geo location can be extensively and successfully applied are user communities, distributed computing environments, Web logs, identifying network robustness, chat programs, security and urban mapping. Dial up connections, cable modems and mobile internet are some areas that are often more difficult to locate since their IP addresses are dynamic and may keep changing.

Email Blacklist Check. Is your IP blacklisted ?

July 7th, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in IP Address Lookup

IP has been blacklisted by over 100 DNS spam filters, then you should check out the site www.myiptest.com.

You will be able to check your IP to see if it has been put on a blacklist, you can now see why your emails have been going to spam filters. Even if your not sending spam you may be put on one of these lists, as it is done all automatically by the servers and if it thinks you are sending spam then you can be sure to find yourself added onto this list.

Most residential and Cable/DSL connections are blacklisted this is why it’s important not to send out your mass emails using that connection. You should be using your ISP connection for sending these out.

This site has many other tools also you can check out, many are fun to try out and use. You can do IP tracking, traces, and many other cool features. If you’re wondering how to check to see if your IP has been blacklisted it is very easy to do, just put your IP into a URL form and check the databases against your mail server IP. If it’s in the database then you have been blacklisted by that spam bot.

If you are blacklisted there is other ways to go about getting your emails out of the junk folder, this will involve changing or hiding your IP. Some areas you won’t be able to do this though, and you will be stuck sending the mail to junk folders. Using proxy servers is another way to go about getting to sites where your IP has been blacklisted, you will be able to do anything you normally would be able too, but you will need a new account.

Ipsec (Internet Protocol Security)

June 22nd, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in IP Address Lookup

The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) in a series of request authoritatively specifies Ipsec (Internet Protocol Security) for Comments addressing to various components and extensions. Ipsec is a protocol suite for securing IP communications by authenticating and encrypting each IP packet of a data stream. IPsec also include protocols for set up the mutual authentication between agents during the beginning of the session and conciliation of cryptographic keys to be used during the session. IPsec is generally being used to protect data flows between hosts such as a computer users or servers, between a pair of security gateway and a host or between the security gateways like routers or firewalls.

IPsec follows two-encryption method which is called- “Transport and Tunnel”, the Transport mode encrypts only the data portion or payload of each packet and leaves the header unscathed while the Tunnel mode encrypts both the header and the payload, as resultant on the receiving area, an IPSec-compliant device decrypts each packet.

IPsec is generally used in “tunnel mode” with a VPN (Virtual Private Network) nonetheless; IPsec also supports a “transport mode” for direct connection between two computers.

Why you should track IP address?

June 11th, 2009 by admin | 3 Comments | Filed in IP Address Lookup

Mapping and Tracing search engines IP addresses is useful for several different reasons. The reason of tracing might be like you may want to see when and which pages of your web site were spidered by search engines robots. You may feel like to ban some harmful bots and let others in. You might want to see which bots are following your robots.txt files.

However keeping track on the various IP addresses belonging to search engine spiders is bit difficult because it requires lot of time. You may need to verify that the IP addresses are indeed genuine and they belong to search engines? The lists you may get might be correct but there is no guarantee that they include all of the IP addresses of all search engines and so on there is no certainty that all of the IP addresses contained in the lists belong to search engines because they are sometimes reassigned or abandoned.

IP tracking also help you to track down the owners of IP addresses or figure out where spam is coming from…but you should know how to track down spammers IP address. .

The IP addresses are enclosed in a flat file database format, which is confined under intellectual property law and treaties, however the IP addresses themselves are public domain and not protected. When you receive an email, the IP Address of the originating computer will contain within the email, in a section of it, which is known as the “headers”. Most of the headers are concealed in most email applications though you can only see the sender’s name, email address, the date and time sent and the subject. However most email applications will allow you to view the complete headers. Check your email application’s help documentation to determine how to do it in your case.

In most cases, you will see a number of lines in the headers that start with the word “Received” followed by a colon (“:”). These are what you might be interested in for looking for. Whenever an email moves from the sender to you, it passes through various servers. Each server adds its own line in the “Received” headers. The newer lines are at the top, so the last “Received” line is that of the original sender.
